Yvetta Tannenberger – soprano


After studing opera singing at the Bratislava Conservatory, Yvetta attended master courses under the guidance of Kerstyn Meyer, Ileana Cotrubas and Mirella Freni. Since 1996, she has been perfecting her technique under the direction of Paolo De Napoli in Italy. In 2000, she began a professional co-operation with Marta Lantieri.

After the completion of her formal studies in 1989, Yvetta received a one year scholarship for Opera studies at the State Opera in Berlin. In 1990, she made her debut in the Vienna State Opera and four months later, she became a soloist of this ensemble. As a soloist of the Vienna State Opera she worked with some of the greatest artists such as Placido Domingo (Parsifal), Seiji Ozawa, Mirella Freni (Pique Dame) and others.

In 1991, she appeared in the role of Barbarina in “Le Nozze di Figaro” at the Wiener Festwochen under the direction of Claudio Abbado. Since 1993, she has been a free agent artist giving a regular guest performances with the National theatre in Brno in 1994, with the Slovak Philharmonic in 1996, with the National theatre in 1998 and the State Opera in Prague in 1999 as well. Since 2000, she has become a regular guest of the Berg´s Philharmonic in Germany.

Apart from the opera performances, she is also active as a concert singer. The worth mentioning are concerts at the Thèâtre Champs Elysée in Paris, where she sang soprano solo with a string quartet rendering Schönberg, at the Konzerthaus in Vienna with the Vienna Symphony Orchestra (a concert version of the Fate of Leoš Janáček) and in Norway with the Bergen Philharmonic (Grand opera concert). She performed also the Dvořák’s Requiem with the same orchestra. Her list of concert performances also include a concert version of Don Giovanni, Faure’s Requiem with the conductor Ralph Weikert, the Poulanc’s Requiem under the baton of Jean-Claude Casadessus, who invited her to Lille to perform the role of Valencienne in the operetta the Merry Widow (1999). A recording of this performance was made by the French Radio. In 2000, she featured in the roles of the Virgin Mary and Saint Margherita in Athur Honegger’s Joan of Arc with the conductor Serge Baudo. Yvetta Tannenberger has given several recitals and opera performances in Japan, started in 1997 by giving an opera recital, touring with the Brno Opera (Carmen, in the role of Micaela) in 1999, and then as Pamina in the Magic Flute in 2001.

In the summer 2000, she performed the main role in the opera La Scala di Seta by G. Rossini at the Tibor Varga festival in Switzerland. She appeared in the same role at the Expo 2000 in Hannover in the framework of the European Union cultural programme. In 2001, she studied Hoffman’s tales, where she shaped the roles of Olympia, Antonia and Giulietta. This was followed by studying the title role in Liska Bystrouska by Leoš Janáček in Lisbon and by featuring in the role of Joan of Arc in the opera of the same name by Giuseppe Verdi with the Canadian conductor Tyron Paterson. At the beginning of the season 2001-2002 Yvetta Tannenberger studied the role of Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata and was nominated for the 2001 Thalia award for the creation of this role. She made her first collaboration with the Prague Symphony Orchestra under conducting Arturo Tamayo (A. Berg, Der Wein). At the end of 2002, she performed at the Smetana festival in Litomysl and sang in the opera Liska Bystrouska in Athens.

In the season 2002-2003, she has got an engagement to perform the roles of Donna Anna in Mozart´s Don Giovanni, of Rachel in Halevy´s La Juive and of Gilda in Verdi´s Rigoletto in the Prague National Theatre. In January 2003 she will sing the Berg`s "Der Wein" in Madrid again with Maestro Tamayo.

At present, she is the soloist of the Opera ensemble of the National Theatre in Prague.
